This Week (39)

With smoke still in the air we spent more time inside-even though it's been almost 80 outside!
The Children's museum is always a great "inside day" activity.

Lately the kids have been complaining about sore tummies so I whipped up these little hot/cold bags for them. The big one we heat in the micro for sore tummies and the little square stays in the freezer for bumps and bruises.


Both kiddos slept with their bags last night.


A Friday night family swim was another great inside activity. And yes, I too was in a swim suit.

Parade, projects and firsts

We started the weekend with the University homecoming parade.


Owen was front and center...


Clara saw a mascot as soon as we got there so she hid in the back of the crowd with Brett.


Brett and I are trying to wrap up/start projects that we would like to have finished before the new babe comes. Owen was a great helper for Brett this morning finishing the guest bathroom.


Clara spent all morning in her "doras" and filled up her potty chart! She is feeling like a big girl and I am feeling like we have made progress toward one of my projects.


Oh and except for not having a name picked out, we are ready for you baby! Well, there are always more things to do and organize, but I am ready. Two weeks until due date :)


Owen had his first soccer game today and it is a riot! His intensity is awesome and four a side soccer is pure entertainment. I can't wait to watch the Water Dragons again!

Sellicopter

I just love Owen's imagination.  I don't know if it's a 4-year-old thing, or my boy, but he comes up with some creative things to continuously entertain his parents!

Owen: "Guess what I want to be?  It's someone that jumps out of a helicopter."

A: "A skydiver?...a smokejumper?"

Owen: "No.  It rhymes with helicopter."

A:  "A belicopter?"

Owen: "A Sellicopter.  It's someone who jumps out of helicopters and sells toy helicopters.  They're community helpers."

Smoke

Missoula air quality is crummy this week! The forest fires south of Missoula are not under control and we have been in a plume of smoke for a few weeks. There are some days that we get a sneak peek at blue sky but it doesn't last long. Owen's first soccer game was cancelled Sunday because of air quality and so have all district outside sports this week. And it's still 80 degrees outside! It's hard not to spend time outside, but we are limiting it.
Today we went to the library and learned how to play UNO:)

Ladies Night

Although some of us didn't last much past 10... We had a nice girls night out. We started with a nice dinner downtown, headed down the street for drinks and then to watch a local band.

Lunch

Owens preschool schedule has changed a tiny bit this year and now includes lunch. I jumped at the chance to make him a lunch and he thinks it is awesome. By the way, the first day i packed it he requested carrots, peppers and peaches. Just in case it was not quite obvious before, this confirms 100% that he is Brett's son! When I picked him up he asked if I would pack his lunch everyday...YES!

Vintage Fair

My friend Heather and I met at the Vintage Fair this morning...we could have spent all day! I had not been before and had no idea how many treasures I would see. I only bought a few of them but it was fun to look! Here are my finds...

Preschool

Today was the first day of Preschool for both kids! Clara started the 2-3 class and Owen is in the Pre-k group...both with the wonderful Miss Stephanie that Owen had last year.

River City Roots Fest

One of the things Missoula does so well is include kids! There was a music festival last weekend and, as with nearly every downtown event, there were free kids activities. We took the kids for an evening of face painting, tye dye, games and science fun.








The face painter busted out her phone to fulfill this iron man request!


Clara may have been the only little one to request a black balloon :)

Labor Day Wkend 2012

 My first "full french braid success"...usually I give up half way because this takes a long time on a busy 2 year old!  She tells me, while reading and feeding her babies, "be careful Mommy", "be gentle pease" and I do try my best.  My hat goes off to Pam Hadley who double french braided Melissa's hair nearly every day-right Melissa?!

 On Monday we took a fam bike ride up Rattlesnake Creek...

 Sunday evening we BBQed with friends and kept the kids up way too late-oops!  They played SO well together though and the adults had some good late night catch up time on the deck.

Brett and Owen went to work on a mowed in soccer field-including paint.  We have all been enjoying it!

Griz Game
