Toy Sale

Owen has recently been wanting toys, a new one every day it seems. A few weeks ago he was stuck on getting two new airplanes that are in a show that he likes to watch. We had a talk about money and working to earn and save for special things. I often tell him, when he wishes for something, to ask for it for his birthday or Christmas. He has come to notice that his birthday was last month and Christmas is a long way out. I told him that he he really wanted this toy he would have to save up his money. He spent an afternoon counting the change in his piggy bank to learn that he still needed some to get his planes. We decided to do a toy sale ( conveniently the same day as our neighborhood garage sale) to raise some funds.

He earned about $7 and lost interest in about 1 1/2 hours (so did Brett and I). Hopefully it was a start to a little lesson in life.

Oh and by the way...he has also moved on to dreaming of a different toy.

Owen's Dinosaur Party

I am finally getting around to posting pics from Owen's 4th birthday.  He requested a dinosaur party and we had to cancel it the day before because he was throwing up :(.  However, we rescheduled it for after our Washington vacation and we celebrated his special day many times in between with lots of family and friends.

I cannot take credit for this...Carole and Ty worked on not one, but two dinosaur cakes for the birthday boy!  Don't you think they should go into the birthday bakery business?

Our sweet neighbor Carmen.  Because we had to reschedule, not many kids could come, but Carmen could and they had a good time regardless.

Swimming Lessons

The kids just wrapped up their first session of swimming lessons. I was thankful that there was an instructor available for Clara so we didn't have to go back to the pool for parent-tot lessons in the evening (and I don't have to get in a suit).

Big Hole

I'm behind a week!
Last weekend we stayed with the McCormicks at their cabin near the Big Hole River. The guys floated and the girls took the kids for ice cream and creek stomping. As always it was great to see Gabe and Flora and so nice of them to invite us.

Owen and I both got "Graham slam"... One of the better flavors I have ever had!

Rock painting with Flora at the creek

Water balloon fight! How have my kids never experienced this before?

4 years old

Happy birthday to our sweet boy! We celebrated with t-Rex pancakes, an early new bike and an awesome dinosaur cake made by grandma Carole! He went to sleep a happy 4 year old.

Owen had a dinosaur party planned for last weekend but we had to cancel because he was throwing up for 3 days. He was a great sport about it and is thankful to know that we will have it in a few weeks. Happy birthday buddy!

Dentist

For Owen this should have happened earlier but...Friday was the first trip to the pediatric dentist for the kids. By the way, I don't know how this place couldn't be fun! There are video games in the waiting room, TVs (and your movie choice) on the ceiling when you are in the chair and a prize wall to spend the token that you earn. It was a great first experience!

Owen went first and was so brave- they polished, flossed and brushed his teeth no problem.

This is as far as Clara got, but she did really like watching Thomas on the ceiling!

Both loved the prizes at the end-one mustache and one ring.
